Volunteer Opportunities
Hearts for Kindness welcomes volunteers that want to show their support within the community. There are many ways you can help:
Fundraising
Do your friends and family sometimes find your energy level and optimism a bit much? Have you been salesperson of the month at job? Does the word “no” roll off your back? You are perfect for us! We need your help with fundraising for our financial giving efforts and general fund. We look to gain business supporters and also sell Hearts for Kindness items, such as bracelets, totes, t-shirts, etc. We need outgoing, energetic people to ask local businesses to sponsor events like the Mom Prom or Garden Party, or to request raffle items.
Are you known as the crafty person in your circle of friends? Does an evening spent quilting, painting, or woodworking feed your soul? We would be honored if you would donate a finished item to us for one of our raffles.
Activities
Are you the person with a truck willing to help friends and family move? Do you enjoy running errands? Maybe you are the first to volunteer as classroom parent or coach. We would love your help with Acts of Kindnesses like our Community Calls to Action and group projects! Organized through Board of Director approval for the benefit of one person or many, these activities help or benefit a child, a family, our community, and beyond.
Community Calls to Action: When we learn of a need in our community, we publicize it on our Facebook page, coordinate the collection of items, and deliver them. Examples of past Calls to Action include new and gently used clothing for children, baby items for an expectant mother, home goods for a homeless family moving into an apartment, and items for Concord’s Homeless Resource Center. We need volunteers to help pick up and deliver donated items. If you own a local business or work for an organization that is willing to serve as a drop off location for donated items, please let us know! Group Projects: We love to organize projects for the good of our community! Past examples include making fleece scarves to distribute in the community and making tote bags out of t-shirts for local food pantries. We also love to work with groups of children in our community to teach them about giving. Past examples include working with Concord Boys and Girls Club Team 6 on a food and supply drive for Friends of Forgotten Children and working with Beech Hill School (with support from The Place Studio and Gallery) to make and distribute Valentine’s Day hearts in downtown Concord. Events
Would a day of smiles and friendly small talk feed your soul? Are you the one rolling up your sleeves and getting to work even when the task is not your official responsibility? Do you love the satisfaction of completing items on a check list? You are just the person we need to help at our events! We hold events that support our general fund for acts of kindness and financial assistance. Past events include the Garden Party and Mom Prom. Volunteers are needed to help run and organize these events, gather donations, post or mail flyers, set up and break down, etc. We also participate in third-party events such as the Concord Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, the Concord Multicultural Festival, and the Concord Christmas Parade.
Promotion
Is it hard for you to stay quiet about your passions? Do your friends and family members tease you for striking up a conversation with strangers when out and about? Your extroversion would be a wonderful asset to our organization! We need volunteers to help promote our name and logo for branding recognition. If you are more of an introvert but social media savvy, we would love your help with promoting our events, event sponsors and supporters, photos, stories and press releases. Promotion is not about us as individuals, but us as one community. By spreading our mission and message of kindness, we hope to motivate individuals to commit their own acts of kindness.
